Trading away Olli Määttä makes the defense worse. Replace him with Matt Hunwick going to Carolina.

I don't think that deal gets done then. If so then I would trade Hunwick hands down before Maatta but I dont think Carolina will take a cap dump in Hunwick unless Sprong is heading to Carolina as well. I would rather keep Sprong at this point than Maatta. Also there are replacements for Maatta I don't think he is as untouchable as he once was.

Määttä is expendable after the Penguins have resolved upgrading their defensemen.

I do not think they will trade Maatta yet, but I do agree he is more expendable than he once was. Also I think GMJR likes their top 4, and is looking to upgrade the bottom pairing. Take ZAR, Maata, and the 2nd out of that deal, and just make it for Skinner, but I definitely like the forward group in this scenario.
