    They dont want to move Stone but may be forced to if he threatens to sign an offer sheet. He could sign 1 year/$4mil somewhere and the Sens get a 2nd round pick for compensation.

    Why would the Penguins want to overpay for the rights to Mark Stone?

    you dont realzie how rfa's work do you.....if someone throws money at a player and he accepts the team that owns him can either match the offer or get compensation and 4m for 1 year ottawa will match with no hesitation.

    And he would become a UFA the following off-season and they get no compensation...

    Hoffman was cancer to the team and had to be traded immediately before any of the situations got worse completely different scenarios but good on you trying.
