Blues already have an overabundance of 3rd line wingers. Why get another in Maroon?

Five stars for wanting O'Reilly.
HUGE over payment. Thompson, T. & Walman, J. are excellent prospects, Berglund, P can still score goals and Fabbri is a young established player. Way more the DATM gave up to get O'Reilly. Botterill says yes.
Let's make a deal!!! cheers

I know the Blues are all about the "home town guys" but we're not going win with hometown guys, especially not guys like Maroon.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Maroon has demonstrated in both Anaheim and Edmonton that he can play on the top two lines in a capacity similar to Tom Wilson (Caps). Frankly, I think the Blues need a heavy LW that can skate. I think that having that physical presence may make bringing up our younger players easier and we should be giving the youngsters some ice time. For the same reason, I think the Blues should re-sign Reaves. Last year, the Blues got pushed around and played with no perceptible passion. Reaves was missed (the same could be said for Oshie, but that horse is out of the barn for good).

i like Reaves as a fourth line player, just like Maroon would be a good 4th line player for the Blues, but not a top line guy. But you have to remember, Maroon was playing with elite centers, something the Blues don't have. Schenn is a good center, but not nearly the skill of Getzlaf or McDavid/Draisaitl. Maroon isn't fast like Tom Wilson is, so that doesn't help us in that aspect (plus again, Wilson was playing with two elite linemates). I agree we need size, but we also need speed. Signing Maroon when you already have a ton of 3rd or 4th line guys without a ton of depth talent doesn't help.
