  1. Tanev, Christopher
Additional Details:
Tanev could be had for a 2nd a prospect but the Leafs upgrade to a 1st and a 4th so Vancouver takes Martins contract.

  2. Rosén, Calle
  3. 2019 1st round pick (TOR)

3.
TOR
  1. 2019 2nd round pick (CHI)
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Honestly I have no idea what to add for this, what I do know is that Chicago could use some more puck moving guys on the back end. Please give me other options. Gardiner can be replaced by Dermott and with the addition of Tanev and some younger guys who shoot right, Gardiner can be moved and Hainsey can then slide to his natural left side.

All of them? I was confident on the first 2 but I am not sure how much value Gardiner has. He's an advance stats darling but has his warts as well. Definitely a positive addition to teams who need to improve their possession and transition play, but he's also 27 and has his detractors.

IMO you can get a bit more for Gardiner, but other than that it seems realistic. A rental addition at the deadline could put this team over the top.

The way this team is constructed would be great for this year but next year would be a cap crunch. However a couple of trades here and there can easily allow the team to keep its core together without much problems. They'd need to clear out about 3-5 million next season before having extra room once Marleau is off the books.

Although this lineup could win the cup and if they do, would Marleau just call her a career after being the 2nd guy to hoist the cup?

Chicago has big time cap issues. They can't afford Gardiner.

Do they have any bad contracts with 1 year left TO could take on and bury? TO shouldn't have any cap issues this year but next year they need to create space.

Unfortunately, they have all long term deals. If you can find a way to trade both Gardiner and Zaitsev, I would be real happy. grin

It's funny, I have been reading what everyone thinks about Jan Ruuta on this site. I must admit, I haven't watched him play that much, so my opinion is based on stats. He was the third leading scorer out of defensemen on Chicago last year. His +/- was better than Conner Murphy, yet people complain that he was signed for $2,300,000. Murphy's contract is almost 4 Million. Go figure.

I guess if you are going to try to get rid of Gardiner, Ruuta is the guy you got to trade for as a Cap dump that is only one year.

I took a look at their payroll for this year and next and they actually have more then enough space to add Gardiner. They could easily extend him if they felt inclined to do so. Or they could get him and then flip him if need be.
