Big Improvement

Team: 2018-19 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 29, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
May need to add non-1st round picks to the trades with TBL and CAR. Trade with Tampa is assuming JT signs there and they need to clear cap. Gives them 3 low cost players (two with top 6 potential).

Kyrou/Fabbri battle for 3rd line RW in camp. If Kyrou loses, he goes to AHL and Sanford or Blais plays on 4th line (or we sign a 4th liner)

If we did this, and I think it'd take some more picks TBH. Then I think the lines should be Schwartz/Schenn/Johnson, Skinner/ROR/Tarasenko.

Schenn has been great at C and Johnson played the last 30 or so games and the playoffs at RW with Point. This is pretty optimistic though lol.

Fair enough. I was just envisioning a shut down 2 way line of Schwartz/ROR/Schenn and then a high-scoring line of Skinner, TJ, Tarasenko...Probably better over the long haul to even them out though.

I just want to be optimistic lol. Settling for ROR alone would leave us in the same spot as having stastny the last 3.5 years

Skinner trade doesn't make sense for Carolina. Why would Carolina take on a 34 year old steen when they are building around a good young forward core. Also I think Fabbri would get a little more money. But all in all very good team, but then again it's St Louis so they'd probably choke in the first round or miss the playoffs.

We’d want Thomas or Kyrou over Kostin due to talent and time until NHL arrival

Thomas is untouchable and Kostin is a lot closer than you think. If it were Kyrou; I’d probably have to drop the 1st to 2020 second

ROR = 1st,2nd and a Top Prospect

Sobotka is a cap dump thus making up any difference in Kostin and Kyrou

Lastly I want a conditional 2021 3rd in the event Sobotka attempts to flee to Russia again. Or would cap hit vanish? In that case nvm

I like the idea of dumping Steen’s salary, but I doubt the he’d waive his NTC.

Great for the blues. Unfortunately none of the guys the blues traded are thought to better than the players they received. The other teams would decline. They don’t get better in the short or long run. Maybe the ror trade bc of the picks but taking an empty contract in soba would require more
