This is so one-sided for the Habs. They barely give up anything and get back two top 4 LHD's. At the same time, you have the Leafs as clear losers as they give up the best two pieces in this trade and get nothing back

Gardiner is a good defensmen but he was terrible in the last playoffs? He is also gonna be free agent next year and don't forget that Martin and Ennis are cap dump.

The Leafs get Spurgeon who is a 1st pairing RHD, but giving up Nylander AND Gardiner to get him wouldn't be worth it.

I'd love Nylander but we give up a ton in this situation to get him. We also create a big holes in our top 4 D by losing Brodin AND Spurgeon. None of our other defenseman (Seeler, Soucy, Olofsson on LHD and Prosser, Murphy, Belpedio on RHD) are ready to step into a top 4 role.

One game shouldn't define Gardiner's career. And the Leafs give up the best player in this trade no questions asked. If they give up Nylander, one of if not both, Dumba and Brodin should be going back to them

Spurgeon isn't a top 2 player, top 4 is better

I beg to differ, he averaged over 24 minutes per game the last 2 seasons for us. That's top pairing minutes, and he hardly ever makes mistakes
