Adding some De to the Defense

Created by: LBNYMike
Team: 2018-19 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 24, 2018
Published: Jun. 30, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sign a vet goalie as a back-up. Georgiev is better off starting 40 games in Hartford than 10 in NY. Call him up at TDL and move the vet you signed for a pick.

Add DeHaan and Demelo to shore up the D until Lindgren, Hajek, Day and Rykov are ready to move up.

If we trade a C, it's a tough call. Z is better on PP and face-offs. Hayes is better defensively and at 5 on 5. No need to move one now unless you can package one for a top pair RHD. No guarantees that both Chytil and Anderson are ready to be top 9 C at this level. I'd love to see Howden make the jump but that would muddy it up some. Give him a year to grow in the AHL.

Continue to add picks/prospects and players who drive play thru trades. Hartnell/Letestu add leadership, experience and grit to 4th line.

I'm a habs fan and I wonder what it would take us to acquire Namesnikov or hayes?

I was hoping the Rangers would have flipped Namestnikov at the draft for one of those four 2nd rd picks. The cost for Hayes will be much higher than Namestnikov but I think he would be a good fit in Montreal as the 3rd line C. He can play the wing also and can work on the PK. I like his versatility but think the Rangers need to move at least one of Vlad, Hayes, Spooner, or maybe even Zibanejad to get their two rookie C's into the top 9 this year.
