One William Nylander, please! MTL/TOR trades

Description
Playing around with different ways to get Nylander if the Leafs land Tavares, this is one of my favorites I've come up with. For those who don't know already, Nino bruised a bone in his leg early last season and was still on pace for 23 goals which is pretty impressive. He's a 50-60 point winger so Nylander's production will be replaced. Playing with guys like Tavares or Matthews he could put up even better numbers.

Greenway develops for a year in the minors, and Stalock gets some competition at the backup role (I only included Lindgren to show this, we wouldn't carry 3 goalies the whole season). The 4th line guys can be replaced with anybody.

Let me know your opinions on value!

Why u think Koivu would raise his clause to play with a team that finished at the bottom of the cave?

Because his brother played for you guys and also our reliable beat writer (Michael Russo) has mentioned that if Fenton asked Koivu to wave his clause that he'd be pissed off and not want to play for us anymore. MTL needs a center so it'd be a good fit

any deal involving nylander going to the wild has to start with matt dumba. Spurgeon is excellent top 4 dman but I think t.o would require dumba to be in the mix.

I used to think the same but I just have to wonder if that's really what the Leafs need... They already have 2 offensive defenseman in Rielly and Gardiner, Dumba would give them a 3rd. Dumba was decent defensively but he still has defensive issues (like almost all of the Leafs defenders). The one type of defenseman they truly lack is a shut-down guy (who Spurgeon happens to be, but he's no slouch offensively either). That makes me think Spurgeon is a better fit for the Leafs. I know Nylander has incredible value, but Nino AND Spurgeon would more than make up for his production, while adding much needed PK help (Nino is great defensively, he's one of our best forwards defensively but he also puts up big numbers in the points category). The Leafs also have Liljegren coming who is yet ANOTHER offensive defenseman. I just really think they're going to have problems getting scored on unless they get a defensively minded defenseman.

Edit: Wow I used the word "defense" so many times in that post, I apologize lol

Understand your point but the leafs wont retain gardiner after next year, they might even trade him this summer. I love gardiner but the fact is he is a 50 point dman and he will be looking for a payday the leafs cannot afford because of matthews, marner, rielly, and hopefully tavares lol. what they lack is a top pairing right shot dman and that is what dumba brings to the table. i also think he fits in better with their core compared to spurgeon's age (28 or 29 i believe).

In a perfect world they can lock up nylander to a discounted price to continue playing with this core.

Although it may comeback to bite leafs nation, i would even consider doing a 1 for 1 nylander-dumba, just because the value right shot dman have in this current market.
