Here to say O V E R P A Y before everyone else. I mean, they have the cap space, but why use it like this??? Clearly there was interest from other teams but I highly doubt CGY or NYR would have offered this much AAV

Whoa... nearly $3 million per year? If that was what he got over the course of two season, good deal. But this... wowzers...

The only thing I can figure with Reaves, is that he must be a hell of a good locker room guy, because he certainly isn't worth that kind of money on the ice. You just don't pay close to $3M for a guy that averages under 10 minutes of ice time a game. He must be the guy everyone goes to for peer counseling and one hell of a company yes man.
I mean, if he had a career year and was getting more playing time on a regular basis, I could maybe see a bit of a raise, but this is about a 150% raise when he arguably had a bad year (by his own standards).
Sure. Vegas has the cap space to burn, and maybe they want to put players on notice that they are willing to fork it out for free agents, but they went overboard. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
I have a hard time believing they couldn't have gotten him to agree for $2M or less AAV.

Look, yeah it's an overpay but..........

Vegas is far from "in cap trouble"

and it's only 2 years

if they had given him any more term i would have been a lot more salty over this

If it was 2.775 million over 2 years it would make sense but this is a massive overpayment. Save that money. Could have paid him 1.5 and he'd get it done. frown

Does this mean they'd be willing to take Matt Martin off our hands?

He is a pretty unique player in his own regard. There aren't many of him left out there. They have be fazed out. Although i think that, I don't think that he's in the price range. Its not a lot but still surprised that 2 mill or less doesnt get er done.

I wonder about McPhee at times. He had a solid set up to be successful via the new expansion setup but how much was actually him and Gallant. Gallant is an excellent coach. Could they have been as good with a lesser skilled coach ? Hard to say. I doubt it.

When I saw that Tatar trade at the deadline, I shook my head. What a saving grace for Detroit getting outta that contract. Guy didnt even play much in the playoffs. Then letting Perron and Neal walk was a bit surprising as they seem to have a ton of cap space. Id have went after Perron and lower dollars, he's more bang for the buck.

Trading Forsberg for Erat was something else too. I thought he was just trying to save his job... but after Tatar i wonder if that was the case.
