also, Vancouver has now 16,5M locked up for 4 absolutely average players. at what point do they stop signing players who overachieved for a single year to big contracts?

I cannot believe this signing.
There are plenty of edgy guys out there who can play the same game for a lot less in terms of AAV and duration.

Why didn't JB learn from the Dorsett deal, he was given a gift by the injury that forced DD to retire and get that contract off the books.
This will definitely be a buyout contender in 2 years unless Roussel can put up 35+pts for the next 3 years.

IF YOU'RE GONNA DO THIS....WHY NOT JUST GIVE HIM A 1-YEAR DEAL FOR $5,000,000 OR MORE ?

VANCOUVER HAS CAP SPACE NOW....BUT WHO KNOWS IF THEY WILL IN 3-4 YEARS....ANY 1-YEAR DEAL MAKES HIM A SOLID DEADLINE RENTAL (WITH 50% RETAINED).

THIS CONTRACT MIGHT BE UN-TRADEABLE BY THEN....IT'S LIKE THEY TURNED A FREE 2ND/3RD ROUND PICK INTO A "THROW IN A 2ND & I'LL TAKE THE CONTRACT".
