What I would do with what's left

Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 1, 2018
Published: Jul. 1, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Is this team good enough to compete with Tampa and Toronto? Probably not but it's a big Fu to the Leafs and it shows some balls! I know Botteril won't do this but with what's left it's what I would do.

Well I think the NYI could be a landing spot for ROR but I do not think a roster player will be coming back to the Sabres..... the NYI need to keep the roster players they currently have so Beauvillier would not be in the trade.

I think if the NYI are dance partner for ROR I would look to get back Bellows in the deal and build off of that.... could also look to move Baptiste in that deal.

Maroon does not fit where the Sabres are currently in the rebuild process so I really do not think he would sign here but I have known to be wrong.

When was the last offer sheet extended in the NHL..... was it ROR by Calgary?....... GM's just do not use that tactic for fear of reprisal.... GMBots is going to be in a position in 3+ years where he will have players he would be fearful of a retaliatory strike..... so no I do not see GMBots offer sheeting any player.

This is what I WOULD do. I don't care if other GM's are wuss's about it. Maroon was actually linked to the Sabres but I don't think he ends up here. Again I think this roster could contend for the playoffs. We need to get in and get our young guys the experience.

Thought that was just conditional. Anyway I'm sure they could work around it. Point is in my mind the Leafs shouldn't get away with having Matthews and Taveres scott free. I'd offer sheet Nylander or Marner next year

Actually is you give Nylander 6 years at $7,000,000 per that is $42,000,000 which for compensation purposes it would be $8.4 AAV this results in the compensation being:

    2 First Round Picks
    1 Second Round Pick
    1 Third Round Pick

To get to 1 First, Second & Third sign him to a 5 year deal at $7,500,000

I believe the Sabres can offer sheet since the pick in the trade was a 4th Round pick with a condition that it will be elevated to a 3rd if the conditions are met..... I am not sure what would happen if the condition is met but the pick was sent as compensation.

There is no way to work around it. You have to give your picks in the trade, and at the moment ours is tied up in that trade. It is a 4th with conditions that make it a 3rd. Therefore we cannot offer sheet Nylander to that tender.

No they cant. Since the Pitt trade was a 4th with conditions that make it a 3rd in 2019, we cannot offer sheet anyone with a tender that involves our 2019 3rd round pick,

I do not know the exact rule as I stated in my post.... what I do find interesting is the Cap Friendly Offer Sheet Calculator states the Sabres could make that offer..... strange.
