Fleeced? Hmm. ROR is good but not when playing even strenght. Lacks speed. Only 20 even str goals the past 2 seasons combined. 9 last year.

Same with Schenn and look how he turned out last season for the blues. But if you really look at it, the blues got rid of 2 salary cap dumps, a 1st, 2nd, and the “worst” out of their big four prospects. But getting Bokk makes that much much easier.

Definitely did not get fleeced. Buffalo got one good all around player in Berglund who they could flip for more picks. Sobotka is a depth center (why the Blues used him as a winger is beyond me). Plus, Buffalo got another 1st round pick they can use to obtain some other young piece if they desire as well as a 21 year old "prospect". I would call it a pretty even trade based on what Buffalo could do with those players.

I’m going have to disagree man. Berglund isn’t all that great and doesn’t get many assist. Scores 15-20 goals but other than that not really good. He was a healthy scratch a couple times last season for his lack luster of play and his contract was long. Maybe a change will get him going though. Sobotka looks even worse on the ice. So IMO all we really gave up is Thompson and 2 picks. We replaced berg and sobotka with Bozak and Perron. We added arguably the best faceoff guy (the other one is Bergeron) and a much needed right hand shot.

Buffalo got a great deal and STL got what they wanted. Buffalo gets to add to their prospect pool while getting a couple decent bottom 6 roster players.

I agree the Blues got the best player in the deal. But to say Buffalo got fleeced is a little much. Thompson isn't that good. He's huge, but lacks hockey iq (i was angry when we drafted him). Berglund if used correctly can see an increase in point totals and has shown he can be force at times. Consistency is the problem with him. For Sobotka, he's a natural center who the Blues used as a winger. Berglund is a good locker room guy as well so they get that stability. It really is a lot to give up, but the Blues got the best player by far. It's just not a fleecing in my opinion
