Caps, Lightning, Bruins, and Pens are all still better. Toronto didn't fix their defense and their LW looks weak

Babcock has already said that marl math and nyl will probably be a line and Gardner is still 2nd pairing ..

You might also have noticed that you actually have 10 mil left in cap if ltir was used correctly , so you could invest in a better C or LW or add to the D

Martin can be buried but part of the cap still counts against so if he was traded it would be better and easier especially since the leafs paid his bonus July 1st . this would add more cap as well depending on who leafs get back .

Let the season determine whose better. Not many pegged the Capitals as anything more than a 'cup contender' going into last year. Leafs share similar status now and we'll see how it all shakes out.

If you haven't seen Hyman play live you can't appreciate what that guy accomplishes each shift.

Marleau continues to do his thing and quietly filled the net 27 times last year

Johnsson is unproven but shows promise.

LW is fine

Defence isn't nearly as atrocious as many want to make it out to be. It's our weakest area...yes...but still about league average.

So...as a pens fan....can you win with elite talent on offence, a hot goalie, and mediocre defence?

I never said the Leafs were a bad team, cause they obviously aren't. I just think those teams are better. Caps because they just won the cup so they need that respect, Pens because of Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, and Guentzel are playoff beasts, Lightning because I think they are the most talented team but constantly choke, and Boston because of their defense and they probably have the best line in the entire NHL. Toronto needs to prove it before I believe in them

Yeah and plus whens the last time "paper champs" or president trophy winner, won the cup? Its all about which team is the hottest and healthiest
