Description
Skinner has 1 year until UFA so would not be a cap hindrance next year when Matthews and Marner are up, Gardiner also has a contract up next year. Get big prospect in Gauthier, (no, not related to Frederick Gauthier), ANOTHER top scorer (this leafs team is going to be traumatizing to teams) and high picks. Essentially you get security in Faulk who is inked longer than Gardiner and is bound for a rebound season, hometown boy Skinner, and assets that cost nothing against cap but can develop into good assets or players.

drop the picks and it makes a little sense. toronto should add. maybe a 2nd rd pick or bracco

disagree. Neither Skinner or Faulk are holding the value that they had 2 seasons ago, however they still are valuable assets. Gauthier is progressing but is not by any means ripping through the AHL, he will make it to the NHL but it may take another year or two. Picks are picks.

but hey if it is in fact an overpayment by all means Carolina would love nothing more than to take less out from their side of the deal.
