While I can't necessarily argue with the values at first glance, I don't think the Rangers are going to want to give up 2 high end LHD and get one RHD in return. In addition, your asking for the Rangers most established D man, which is essentially leaving them at square one with a hole on their first pair. Finally, the Rangers are also taking Ryan's 7.25m contract in return, that doesn't happen for free, so that should have an impact on the value you get in return.

Deal with Ryan included:
2020 1st
2019 4th
Libor Hajek
Vlad Namestnekov

Deal without Ryan included:
2020 1st
2019 2nd or John Gilmour, Ottawa's choice..
Libor Hajek
Vlad Namestnekov

i agree with everything you are saying: the problem is that with NYI,VGK,SJS,TBL,NYR+ a few others all bidding for his services now it is not going to be a "fair" trade.

Skjei replaces EK65 and Hajek is in their pipe line to develop.

Namest is the cherry on top.

I would change the 2019 1st to the 2019 conditional second from TBL upon aditional review.

We lose the trade but at the end of the day we get A cornerstone player and it makes NY way more attractive for others to follow

Your points are fair, I can't say your crazy or anything. There is going to be a lot of demand for EK, so the price might skyrocket. If I am the Rangers though, I would pass if the price gets this steep. I am not saying he isn't amazing, but it would be counter productive for them to lose too many assets during a rebuild. EK is currently 28, so he's on the higher side of fitting into their plans anyway. It would be nice to have him, but not if it's going to cost them Skjei AND Hajek.

My thinking is...
Hajek, while not EK, is going to be a real good dman for a long time once he hits the NHL.
Names, while not elite is also a solid middle 6, two way forward that will be real productive for his team. Hajek and Names are your "now candy" for the fans.

the 1st would essentially be the long shot gamble at replacing EK.

the 2nd/John Gilmour is the sweetener.
