not sure how anyone could say this is a bad signing. He kept the Sabres in a lot of games last year. that defence was horrid. For one year and 1.5. Seems pretty low risk with better reward opportunities.

100% agreed. Playing for the worst D of the last season and he still had some very good games. A low risk contract like this for him it's surely a good one.

Not bad at all. Sort of like the Mrazek signing in the sense that it could turn out to be a major bargain if Lehner plays well. He's still young so this could turn out nicely for the Islanders.

Love this signing by Lou Lamoriello. And if it doesn't work, they don't need to bring him back. I think for now it's just to see if it works. Thenif it does he'll be signed to a longer contract worth more money.

Robin Lehner has the 2018-2019 season to prove he can play in the National Hockey League beyond the season. Can he benefit from a change in scenery?

Or was he the worst goalie in the league? He's a hot head on the ice (fact) and rumors in the Buffalo media is he is unhealthy in the dressing room (speculation). I put little weight on the media though.

For 1.5M, yes good signing, little risk. Hopefully he can turn things around for his sake and the NYI, but I must say he was my least favorite Sabre. Lost us a lot of games and sucks on shootouts (can't blame D on those)

Sorry Sabres fan, but your D till last season stinks. That's a fact and everyone knows that. Even many other Sabres fans agree with me. It's not a coincidence that your GM focus in his D in the draft. With those players your team would stay at the bottom of the table forever. Now you guys have Dahlin and that's can be the beginning of a new era in Buffalo. We'll see what's gonna happen...

As for Lehner, well...I'm not saying he's a great goalie or something. But he's not that bad as you said. He had a very solid season playing for the Sens. A very good backup for Anderson back in that time. Sometimes he had to be the starter and he's stand very well in that role. I think neither legendary goalies like Brodeur or Hasek, for example, would led your team to the first middle of the table.

Anyway, good luck for your team in their rebuild.

Unfortunate that he left but as an Isles fan i'm pretty happy with this signing. It worked out well for a year.
