That would definitely get it done just not sure why Columbus would do that.

Please, if you'r going to make this trade and announce it's a sign and trade, at least post it as 2019/20 lineup so we can all the reality of a 11m contract.

I wouldn't give up Werenski for Karlsson right now. You want to get Karlsson, wait a year and sell him on the idea of playing with Werenski and Jones.

Honestly don’t think your close on value. He is the best defenceman in the entire league, your getting him with a new contract and your really only giving up Werenski. Foligno is old and can still play but isn’t exactly a key piece, the first in 2020 will be a late first, and the second is probably in the 60s. So as good as Werenski is, e isn’t a top 10 center in the league, he also isn’t as elite as Ottawa would be looking for to be really the only valuable piece in the trade.

I think you're thinking of Wennberg. Werenski is an already really good defenseman (probably top 25 in the league), with upside to be a top 5 Dman in the league in the next 2-3 years. If Ottawa is looking for more than that, it's never going to happen.

Ahh yes my mistake. In that case, it still doesn’t change my opinion. I’ll grant you he is a more elite player then I was thinking, but it’s still trading the best current defenceman, who will probably still be the best defenceman for 3-4 years, for a guy you hope reaches the top 10 in the league. Don’t think the value is far far off but I think Ottawa would look to add a Josh Anderson or another pick.

Im basing the idea of trading the captain because Jones and possibly Panarin if he decides to stay would be the best candidates for captain.
