The whole idea of them moving Bobby Ryan is that they are dumping salary, not retaining on him and taking back deadweight Corey Perry.

eumm I don't see any values coming back to Ottawa? You're just trading away bodies and salaries for arguably the best D in the league AND a retained bobby!

Ryan and Perry is a swap of bad contracts -- but Perry's term is shorter at this point and he is still a better player than Ryan. Ritchie is a 22 year old former #10 overall who should be on the verge of becoming a solid top-6 power forward. Montour is not Karlsson, but he is a young, extremely mobile top-4 defenseman who can help on the PP -- he is the guy who made Theodore expendable in the Vegas draft and Vatanen expendable in the NJ trade. Roy is a talented forward who Ducks fan would love to see get a spot on the roster - he did well on a call-up last season. That's two top-6 forwards (including a former Hart winner), a top-4 defenseman/PP quarterback, a top prospect, AND a high pick.

Think you got some of those names wrong. Ottawa would be looking at Rakell and Kase.

While I do think there's certainly some creativity behind the deal you've proposed, it's also full of complications. Not only does Ottawa, apparently, require a 1st round draft pick in 2019 as part of a return for Karlsson, Perry would also need to be willing to waive his NMC, which might, straight away, kill such a deal.
