Panarin trade with Florida

Created by: Jacketsman61
Team: 2018-19 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2018
Published: Jul. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Panarin agrees to an extension with Florida and the Jackets get a bunch of prospects and futures. Not really what Jarmo would like but it definitely helps.

The Jackets acquire Skinner to replace Panarin. Not as productive but still a goal scorer.

Would be very stupid of FLA to move 3 very very good young forward prospects for Panarin. But FLA is pretty stupid so maybe.

Panarin is Elite. They would be able to acquire him and sign him long term. This would definitely help Florida climb into discussion of contenders in the Atlantic division.

he is elite but you are giving up 4 top 6 forwards potentially... this is not even close to fair

Keyword is potentially. Again these are futures. For all we know Borgstrom could be nothing but a 3rd line center and Denisenko never comes over from Russia. Then who comes out on top?

if they had to give up that amount of guys why wouldn't they just trade for skinner if he was that much easier to get while not being quite as good when both are in the same contract situation?

I love panarin. Underrated. Florida is also one of my favourite teams so i love this deal. No team would ever give up this much young talent though. And panarin is an expensive contract so some money will have to go the other way. Take out a young player or two here and put it in someone whos actually making nhl money.

Like the thought, but I think Jackets have much less leverage than you believe. He has already expressed his desire to move to a big city, so why would a team pay so much to acquire him? I think given CBJ's desire to start acquiring young, developed talent to win now (or soon), it will be less pieces going back to CBJ, but ones that have already seen success at the NHL level (so for FLA for example, was thinking Bjugstad or Trochek if FLA is willing to part with them). I know that they will have a cap situation this coming offseason, but moving Panarin for established talent may help them solve that problem.

Panthers won’t give CBJ three 1st rounder controllable assets. Bjugstad is available as part of a trade as well as 1st round picks but not the prospects.

Thanks Dale for clearing that up lol. But yeah I think Panarin for current NHL talent suits both sides better.

I would say panarin and a 2019 conditional first round pick for barkov. The pick will only be a first if he signs long term. If not it becomes a 2019 second round pick. Win for both sides dynamic and a future asset for a dynamic young. Jarmon wants dynamic for dynamic and this may be the best your gonna get unless u can pry filip Forsberg from nashville

Barkov isn’t available but he was it would cost way more than an extended Panarin
