Jack Johnson contract is way better, De haan and Johnson are going to produce the same but Johnson plays a more complete defensive game. Jim made the right move.

This is completely false.

I was hoping they’d sign John Moore instead of Jack Johnson

hahaha you can't be serious? De Haan is a complete player. He's on a whole other tier than Johnson.

De Haan is good. But we need johnson for a bottom pair, a solid guy who plays a solid game. De haan at that price is to unfriendly to the cap anyway, and unnecessary.

You're assuming de Haan wanted to come to a team with limited minutes to go around and depth at his position. Jack Johnson isn't a world beater, but he's set up to play well in Pittsburgh.

De Haan is 100% a better player, but his cap hit is to high for the pens in future years. Johnson fits the cap, and is buddies with Sid, setting him up for a solid year with a Stanley cup contender
