Nice cheap no risk signing, Ennis can play all three positions and provides some nice depth if the prospects don't perform.

Like the Duclair signing, but with a lot lower reward. This could end up being decent or mean nothing for the Leafs.

Brilliant. As overpaid as he was, he still put up 22 points in 73 games. He can slide in on the fourth line and produce some really nice secondary scoring. I love this move from the Leafs perspective

He isn't good enough to make the Leafs. His cap is fine as he be sent to the AHL without cap implications. Seems like a roster spot wasted.

Leafs are at 44/50, can't see how this wastes a spot. Even with remaining RFA's they're at 47/50.

1. If he can put up a 30+ point pace before the rookies are ready - he can net a 2nd-4th at the deadline.
2. If he never makes the Leafs but puts up a PPG+ in the AHL - he still might net a 5th-7th at the deadline.

The Leafs still have 6 open contract slots & only 3 guys to sign (if a trade is made to improve the NHL team - we'll likely send back more bodies than we receive).

We can also just give some guys away if even needed. For example:

- 7th for McAdam
- 7th for Subban
- 6th for Marincin
- 5th for Gauthier
- Future Considerations for Cracknell, Mueller or LoVerde (people want their AHL teams to win).

Ennis can also not score goals while floating and coasting aimlessly on the ice. At best, Ennis is a fourth line forward.
