3 way deal for E. Karlsson

Description
The rangers are going to be taking on some pretty dismal contracts from both, the Ottawa Senators, and the TB Lightning in order to facilitate the trade for E. Karlsson to the Lightning. In return the rangers are picking up some very nice pieces for the future. So basically what each team gets is the following:

Tampa gets - E. Karlsson 8yrs $80M (10M per yr)
R. Spooner 2yrs $4.4M (2.2M per yr)
C. Brigras 3yrs ELC $2.925M ( 925K per yr)

Ott gets- TB first round pick in 2020
NYR 3rd round pick in 2021
J. Vesey 2yrs 3.9M ($1.85M per yr)
M. Sergachev 2yrs ELC 1.9M (950K per yr)


NYR gets- 2021 2nd round pick
C. Foote 3yrs ELC 2.925M (925K per yr)
T.Raddysh 3yrs ELC $2.925M ( 925K per yr)
The rangers absorb the contracts of B Ryan, R. Callahan, and T.Johnson.

Ottawa easily says no. They give up EK and only get Vesey and 2 picks. Idc if they r dumping cap that’s a bad return

good lord this is ridiculous

Do you think it was the rangers that were giving up the best d-man in the league?

As we have just recently learned with the NYI sometimes you need to get something when you can before you lose them for nothing, Karlsson is not resigning with the Sens and is only going to be going to a team that HE wants to go to as he has a NTC which means that he is picking his destination. The sens are getting rid of, in my opinion, the worst contract in the entire NHL. They are adding a 1st, a 3rd, and getting back a young hobey Baker award winning winger, rather than losing Karlsson for nothing, come next summer. Sounds like a pretty decent return if you ask me

So an award from a junior league’s supposed to make Vesey suddenly an attractive piece? Thats like saying this guy’s gonna b an NHL star cause he won the Calder Cup in the AHL

Well what would you suppose is going to be the return? When you look at it, it doesn't look like a lot at all for one of the best dmen, but the rangers are handcuffing themselves by taking on that contract. I had it originally as the sens getting back the 1st, the 2nd, and Raddysh... thoughts???

BR’s contract is a really bad one (Lucic’s is the worst, Ryan’s is second), but this is the Best D-man in the league we r talkin. This trade could b one i guess if the Sens run out of options, but I still think they can get more because this article:

The rangers are taking on Callahan, B. Ryan, and T. Johnson as a cap dump... all with the exception of johnson are negative trade value. In my opinion, B. Ryan's contract is easily equivalent to a 1st round pick in the negative, where callahan's contract is probably a 2nd or 3rd rounder in the negative. Johnson is in their strictly for cap space purpose as they need to resign Karlsson and Kucherov. I was thinking that maybe a separate trade could be made between the lightning and another team involving johnson... my major focus was on the two prospects in Foote and Raddysh as well as a 2nd rounder.

So maybe the sens also get back sergechev from the lightning as per the article... I think that makes the trade pretty fair if you ask me

Close. Add Raddysh to Ottawa (not NY), and remove the 3rd Rd pick from NY and it works.
