6 years x 10.5 extension (who knows if he wants to sign an 8 year deal with a brand new team. He doesn't know the culture so who knows if he'd max out on term). I could be wrong, but just my take.

Almost had it perfect until you signed Orpik again. Gross.

But throw out the 3rd from OTT and this is pretty close. But the main issue with this is Nisky has a 10 team no trade clause and I guarantee you him (and everyone else in the league) has OTT at the top of their list.

Way too much for an overrated dman who will get massively overpaid. He'd improve the Caps offensively, but his defense is worse than Niskanen's. Caps would be better off not making that trade and just signing Orpik for the 3rd pair.

Nisk>EK this season. Possibly next season if EK's foot is still wonky. Plus minus can be thrown off a bit by teammates and coaches, but a 49 point difference probably says something.

Caps can add more goals by signing Rick Nash or Patrick Maroon, and add as much defense with Cody Franson. All without trading anyone, just maybe waiving Boyd or Walker.

Instead of debating which of Bura/Vrana scores 20 with Backstrom and Oshie, why not get someone who already has shown they can score 30, and still keep most of the Cup winning team and its prospects together?
