Does anyone know of a study that analyzes the percentage of players on NHL rosters by each draft round? In this age of analytical metrics, I would be surprised if there were NOT such a study. If it’s available to the general public, I (and I’m sure many other AGM’s) would love to know where to find it. (For example, of 20 skaters currently on the L.A. Kings roster with at least a good chance to be on the team Opening Day, 12 were first-round picks, 2 were second-rounders, 2 each went in the 5th- and 6th-round, and there was 1 each undrafted and in the 4th round. For the 23 Anaheim players in that category: first-11; second-3; third-2; fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh-1 each; and 3 undrafted. I exclude goaltenders because the draft tends to undervalue them.)
