After signing JVR we are locked up in LW for the long haul. No need for Patches.

I dont understand why Flyers fans think they have the best forward group lol. Theres 2 teams in their own division that are better

I'll admit the Penguins have a better forward group (personally think our top 6 matches yours but your bottom 6 wrecks ours). But who is the second team? It's certainly not Washington.

Toronto? Their bottom 6 outside of Kadri is nothing special at all. TB is also close but if the Flyers get one more top 6 player, they will have the best top 9 in the league. A third line of Lindblom, Patrick and Simmer is hard to beat.

You also think Kessel played most of the year on the 3rd line...

I already gave you the stats, you just ignore them. I said IF the Flyers get another top 6F they will be. You know like the team where I added Stone. As of now I do not believe that statement.

Even with this line up, I don't know if this bottom 6 is any better than TOR's bottom 6.
Simmonds-Patrick-Shaw
Lindblom-Laughton-Weise

VS

Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Leivo-Jooris/Lindholm-Brown

I dont think there is much difference, although I would say Patrick is the X-Factor as no one really knows what he will be this year. I also am a big Simmonds fan.

We know exactly what Patrick will be. He showed it in the 2nd half of the year. He IS a future 1C.

Well leafs Kadri, Brown, Johnsson had 48 goals in 171 games last season and all will only get better. Simmonds who's declining, Patrick and Lindblom
Had 49 in in 171. I think it's basically a wash and considering leafs top 2 lines are much better I would say their 9 is better overall

40+ pts as a 2nd year player doesn't seem bad. Thats also assuming Kapanen is not there. But you don't seem to have a good idea about the leafs prospects so nevermind j guess

Pick your best 9 FWDs from each team and tell me who you'd pick....

TOR: Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Marleau, Kadri, Kapanen, Brown, Johnsson
PHI: Giroux, Voracek, JVR, Simmonds, Patrick, Couturier, Koneckny, and pick 2 more.

It's funny saying a 3Rd line hard to beat when on kid scored 2 goals last year lol. Kapanen scored more goals per game on the 4th line PK duties

Also good luck with JVR, there is a reason we let him walk for nothing. He is a kitten defensively. 7 mil is outrageous

Hard to argue with Flyers fans. They want to believe their team is one of the best, but every year they miss the playoffs are get eliminated in the playoffs. They'll have their shot in a few years though when people like Ovi, Crosby, Malkin retire

Neither was P.A. Parenteau on the Islanders but he still scored thirty with Tavares. I put Hyman scoring 20 goals and posting 50 points this year on a line with JT and Marner

There's different stats and different ways of evaluating guys from year to year. If you take each player's best year out of the last five, and look at what they're capable of, the Flyers are world-beaters.

But most of their guys have off years as often as on years, lately, and that snowballs. With Patrick moving up the lineup, maybe everybody's competing a little harder for ice time? They could make some noise. Not knocking. Once their defense takes another collective step forward, and they settle on a goalie, they will be a really tough team to play against.

They already have a lot of skill and are fun to watch.

If second halves of the year are the indications of a player than Mitch Marner is a better point producer everyone but Giroux on the Flyers

Oh, and comparing Washington's top nine forwards requires that they pick nine top forwards, first.

Vrana, Stephenson, and Burakovsky each spent time on the second and third lines in the playoffs, and in the press box or on the fourth line. They have a good, balanced team, and got some lucky bounces, and it was a long time coming.

Patrick had the same surgery Giroux had and it took them both a year to get right. Plus it was Patrick’s first year, so he is likely to progress and adapt better later in the season. Your comparison of Marner and Giroux is funny though.

Marner will surpass 90 points this season easy. Last year in his final 50 or so games he was on a 110 point pace... also I never made a comparison between Giroux and Marner, I said Giroux was the only better point getter than Marner if Marner was compared to the Flyers Squad

Well I think we settled it. I do think flyers are a decent team. Their offence is good, but I don't think its as good as the leafs, and I think the leaf's have a much higher ceiling as Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, and Johnsson are only going to get better (maybe a lot better), meanwhile, with PHI I think best case scenario Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier, etc. have repeats of last year and don't have much room to get better. Also, I would probably call the Defense of the two teams even, but TOR has a far superior goalie for now (Maybe Carter Hart will be as good as most Flyers fans believe he will be).
