Shaw at a 600000 pay cut for an extra 2 years is worse than keeping Brouwer at 4.5 for 2 year.
Rather keep Frolik as a great penalty killer on the 3rd line.
Bobby Ryan is still more expensive than keeping Stone on the roster except for an extra 2 years.

All together terrible for Calgary.

Shaw may be a better player today than Brouwer (maybe), but his deal has FOUR YEARS on it! CGY isn't about to run out and at that for a player like that, when Hathaway, Dube, Mangiapane, Lomberg, etc. are all equally useful assets in depth roles for CGY, if needed.

CGY would rather have Frolik than Ryan, and rather have Brouwer than Shaw (it sounds ridiculous, but it's true with that Shaw contract).
