I love the idea, however, if I am Montreal i probably dont want Bouwmeester coming off an injury. Maybe if he proves hes healthy in camp there's a trade like this? I would love it!

I like this trade. I still think Montreal would look to squeeze a fest round pick out of someone but I am a fan of Walman.

If you're going to do a deal like this, dump Steen instead. One more year of Bouwmeester isn't bad, but 3 more of Steen is terrible for the Blues.

Only reason this deal doesn’t happen is because Patches won’t agree to an extension

It's a bit more commitment for MTL in term, but Steen is probably still good for 15 goals a year next 2-3 years. Bouwmeester may not have another good year left in him. I'm sure St. Louis would want that extra few years of cap relief to make it work.

The question of Pacioretty not agreeing to that extension is an issue of course. But the hard NO from L.A. on his original demand may convince him to moderate his asking price in order to get to a team with serious talent, depth, and potential to win in the next few years.

Adding Pacioretty puts St. Louis ahead of Nashville offensively, and close to Winnipeg (based on goals for last year). Goaltending would be their only nagging question, offense and defense should be solid for several years.

would be nice to get a 1st round pick but those are 2 very good prospects. And St. Louis already moved their 1st for O'Reilly along with another top prospect

That's definitely a sticking point. We'll see whether he really wants to hold out for that $8.0M target. Very few teams are going to touch him at that number, especially if he wants 4-5 years. Who knows maybe he racks up 15-20 goals by Christmas and the story changes...

I guess, for only five years that's the going rate. But I believe he wants 7 years. Am I the only one that thinks that's crazy!! As he's getting slower in the first year of extension, Kyrou could be looking like a young Modano!!!
