You're missing 2 roster players and the salary cap will probably be around 83M$ next year, so that gives you around 3.5M$ to sign 2 more players.

I would keep Gardiner at 5x5M$ instead of giving 2x3.5M$ to Edler anyday! That'll give you 2M$ to add 2 depth players. Very doable! So they can keep their core for next season, but they can't add AND extend Erik Karlsson, that's for sure

I think Kapanen, Marner, Nylander and probably Matthews all sign for more money. Gauthier will be traded or non-tendered. Ennis will either be not good enough to make the team or too good to make $1 mil. Edler isn't very good anymore. I like the Sparks contract.

I don't understand why people want to trade Brown? He loves Toronto. He knows his role and he has 20 goal potential. If there is an injury to any of the other RW he is a very valuable depth piece that can fill in. He's is keeping the Leafs from rushing prospects (Bracco or Timyshov) or having Josh Lievo play on anything but the bottom pair. To me he is a great Leaf and I wouldn't be in a rush to trade him.

Only way I see brown gone is to upgrade on D, brown wont fetch a top dman but could be used in a package for a undervalued dman like pysyk or honka. Not too sure how undervalued pysyk is in florida but would be a perfect fit imo. I posted a trade on here (before JT signed) brown + carrick + 2nd rd pick for pysysk and mccann.
