Interesting moves made....Thoughts?

Description
With 9 million dollars in cap space Minnesota likely doesn't have the money to sign both zucker and Dumba, and still have money to sign Eriksson Ek next year unless they trade contracts away. In this situation i think they will sign Dumba and trade away Zucker. In my opinion it is better to trade Zucker and get to keep Dumba, Eriksson Ek, and other than to sign him and lose other pieces off the team. Additionally, Minnesota is already loaded with young talent up front and likely doesn't have a spot for Zucker next year if they plan on playing Kunin, Greenway, and others.

Trading Zucker for Jake Bean and a 3rd is a good deal for both teams. Carolina adds help up front, and finds their replacement for Jeff Skinner (likely to be moved). Jake Bean likely isn't a part of Carolina's new look defence for the future so Carolina likely can part ways with the young blueliner.

Your premise is flawed. We have about $14.2 million in space. The roster listed on the Wild's page has 27 players (25 contracts) including multiple that won't touch the ice in MN unless there are major injuries. Here's the current lineup:

    Zucker-Staal-Granlund
    Parise-Koivu-Nino
    ???-Eriksson Ek-Coyle
    Foligno-Fehr-Brown
    Hendricks scratched

    Suter-Spurgeon
    Brodin-Dumba
    Seeler-Pateryn
    Olofsson and Prosser scratched

    Dubnyk
    Stalock

Greenway, Kunin, or Rau will likely fit in the open spot on the 3rd line. They'd account for $700k-$925k against the cap leaving $somewhere between $13.3 million and $13.5 million to re-sign Zucker and Dumba which should cost close to $11 million total. There's an extra $725k available if they waive/trade Olofsson since Bruce doesn't trust him and we don't need 2 extra D every night.

I don't see how Bean benefits the Wild at all. We have more than enough LD as is. Suter, Brodin, and Seeler are locked down for the next 3+ years and we have more in the pipeline that are almost NHL ready. We have much more pressing needs than bolstering LD depth.

Bean makes sense to me if the new front office doesn't like Brodin as much as the old one. Acquire Bean + for Zucker...then move Brodin in a subsequent move. Plus, as the old saying goes...you can never have too many defensemen.

i understand never having too many defensemen but I don;t see why you give up a big chunk of what little firepower this team has up front to get more. I don't think Bean is nearly ready to take over that much ice time so we end up hurt on both the front end and back end. I'd much rather skip this trade then go for someone big up front which is our actual area of need..
