Max Pac trade

Description
MTL wants to get rid of Pacioretty and Vegas is already in « win now » mode even if it’s only it’s second year in the league.

The Habs get a LHD which they need so bad + a first rounder and a (still) young player in Hyka.

Vegas gets an elite winger who can help them now + they get rid of Cody Eakin’s bad contract. In this scenario, they sign Pacioretty to an extension. They also add a depth player in Jordie Benn who can fill in a bottom pairing role behind Shea Theodore.

The return for Pacioretty is fair considering what the Sharks paid the Sabres in the Evander Kane trade (a 1st, a 4th and a prospect) and what the Knights paid for Tatar (1st, 2nd and 3rd pick)

Of course, this is never done by VGK unless he signs an extension. Agreed.

To acquire a 5-time 30 goal scorer and get rid of Eakin’s salary? Why not ?

They need defensemen more than a winger, and they do not need to dump salary. It doesn't make sense for them to trade a 26 year old top pairing defensemen, for a winger going on 30 who will most likely play on their second line.

not that I think it's a good trade. but you comment on every patches trade because you read too many rumours that he will only resign somewhere in florida. not one player would make location the only motive in resigning, it's a motive but not a sole motive. being traded and extended to a team with a ton of cap space, where he's out of the spotlight is very possible like vegas.

Anything is possible, but when it’s public knowledge that he wants to play in Florida and owns a house in south Florida and has stopped at least 2 trades because he didn’t want to sign extension with either teams....mind you he was linked to have wanted to go to both teams then it’s just putting 1 and 1 together. I’m not guaranteeing he’s going to be a Panther just seems highly likely. As a Cats fan I’d be happy but it wouldn’t kill me if he doesn’t come.
