So you're saying a 2C (on Carolina), a 2nd/3rd line winger, a decent center prospect (realistically won't be better than a 2C, and will likely be more like a third liner), a good third-pairing defender, and a second-round draft pick gets it done?
Hmm, I think you will need a little bit more. Let's me propose: Tierney, Labanc, Gambrell, Heed, a 1st, and a 3rd. That probably has enough value.
My reasoning: Heed provides a little more offense than Dillon, something you are losing with trading Faulk. You also give the Hurricanes a good depth defenseman in Heed, who can play on the third pair or be your 7th. I like your assumption of Tierney, Labanc, and a prospect. John Norris is probably off the table, and he is the best prospect in the system. I think Gambrell will be an NHLer, but probably not a top line guy. I would bet a middle six guy at this point, but he could fizzle out. The 'Canes need centers, and they get one for now, and one who could be decent in the future. Getting Labanc basically replaces Skinner, which is good. He doesn't score the goals, but he is a good passer. Just needs to figure out the defense a little more.
And I definitely think more in the draft is needed.

Carolina don't need more D men, offering Dillon isn't going to help the value, if you made the pick a first and added a 3/4 and maybe a late rounder for the both of them, thats still a steal for SJ
On the contrary. Carolina needs a third pairing left-handed guy. Right now they have too many righties. I don't see the 'Canes taking on another $3.000+ defenseman, however. And I completely agree they will need a first to send for this trade.

I like a defense of:
Ryan-Burns
Vlasic-Braun
Dillon-Faulk
You could even switch Faulk and Braun if you wanted to and that would work well.
