I think that is what he will get at the trade deadline.

lol CHI would jump on this deal. (I am assuming that the 1st is lottery protected). Habs have no interest in Anisimov, they would rather give more playing time to guys like Danault, De la Rose, and have someone like Plekanec with either Froese or Peca fill out the bottom six. They would suck for a few years, but they wouldn't have the dead weight that Anisimov would create in a few seasons and take up space from guys like Kotkaniemi and Poehling who are 1-2 years away from the NHL.

I respect your vision and this is the way to go. But not sure if Bergevin is aiming long term. I think he beleive that Mtl has a chance for the series in the short term and they desperately need a top centerman.

If Bergevin truly wanted to try and compete next season, he would of made some free agent signings. He stated on his July 1st interview that he could of signed some guys, but that he didn't want any aging players who would be signed for a longer term (although Anisimov isn't a FA, he still falls into the same category). When Bergevin stated that he wanted to compete for a playoff spot, it was before July 1st. all that is out the door when he realized Tavares and Stastny had zero interest in signing in MTL. Which is why now Bergeving, Molson, Timmins have all changed their tune and have been preaching patience and looking forward to MTLs top prospects (Kotkaniemi and Poehling).

Ahhh...yeah a guy that your management has said they are not negotiating with this week who is coming off a 37 point campaign is getting you 2 firsts and a 2ns (Anismov's value) for a rental. Pretty sure the laughing you are hearing is everyone at your ridiculous proposal.

Patches had the worst shooting percentage of his career, no doubt. but even with that, pro-rated, he still would've scored 22 goals on the season....in his worst SEASON!! Add the fact that no one was able to dish him the puck last season (Drouin no chemistry) unlike Radulov the year before, Desharnais every previous year, explains why he only shot around 200 times (which is unusually low for him). Give him a solid center (MTL has none) and the guy is back to 30 goals, easy. The amount of crap people are giving Patches is getting ridiculous. Almost every insider and everyone on this site (Hab fan or not) pretty much agrees that his next contract will be around $7-7.5mil AAV. This isn't some magic random number that fell out of the sky.

I agree with you. Give him a strong center and he will provide Bossy numbers.

CHI is not trading a 2018 1st (Beaudin), a 2020 1st and AA who would be 1C or 2C to MTL for a rental.

I'm constantly baffled at how people on here think it's overpaying, but then have absolutely no problem putting him on their 1st line LW, then extend him at 5-6 years $7-7.5mil as if that wasn't their plan all along.

you know what, I'll try and meet you in the middle. If Patches isn't traded until the trade deadline and there's only 20 games left to the season, then absolutely this would be an overpayment. But if CHI can get a late 1st rd pick + 4th rd pick + prospect for Ryan Hartman, then you can take it to the bank that Patches could get two late 1st rd picks + another "meh" asset. and as explained in previous post. MTL doesn't want/need Anisimov, especially if they are rebuilding by trading Pacioretty.

The issue is that the extension is not a certainty. If MTL did a sign and trade, say 5x6-7M then yeah hes probably worth something like what you proposed but without that its just 1 year of patches for 3 younger assets then a crack at resigning him before he hits the market and gets a big payday. I think right now without the guarantee of him resigning in Chicago hes worth Anisimov and EITHER Beaudin or a 1st

Bergevin is going to get pennies on the dollar for Patches. If MB could learn to shut the fk up and not show his cards constantly he would be able to pry more out of teams in these trades.
