Not sure if these are realistic........

Paches is going to get you conditional 2nd (1st if he signs) and a B Prospect (someone draft between 3-7 round)... Similar to Kane, Spezza, etc..

Maybe Bergevin gets someone to overpay but I doubt it. It seems like Patches wants a big payday (which teams are scared to do) and Bergevin made it clear that he ain't coming back to the Habs (I think). Best case scenario, you trade at the deadline as a rental, and he hits UFA the following year.

Pacioretty signs an extension in all of these trades, a decent return would be a 2019 1st and a top prospect/top six forward+B-Level Prospect. Evander Kane is a terrible comparable because he only has one 30 goal season, while Pacioretty has five 30+ goal seasons.

I think M.B has really hurt Pacioretty's value and I'm not sure whether there is a big need for a center anymore. Kotkaniemi and Poelhing are likely 1 year away from NHL duty and Danault will serve as the top center as MTL likely will contend for another lottery pick in 2019 and potentially the 2020 draft.

The Canadiens need an established top NHL center to guide the prospects to a great career. All of the trades except LAK and DAL do that. There is not a big need for a center but if you have a player with good value and a (small) need for centers, why not? What would you trade him for?

It all depends on the contract too - As in - what he is looking for

A couple things to keep in mind though -A) Bergevin hasn't really got great value in any of his recent trades B) For some reason they let it out that they would not resign him C) I think he will rebound, but he is coming off his worst season, so teams will probably be reluctant to give too much up and give him the 7M+ he will want.

Don't get me wrong, he could end up being a steal. As you said, I think he is miles better than Kane, but Kane is trending up and really played well when surrounded by some talent. When The talent dried up around Pacioretty, so did his production. Kane is also 3 years younger.

I think it's asking a lot for a team to give up a 1st rounder and a top 6/top prospect & a b level prospect for a guy who is coming off a 17 goal season (thanks Claude) and is a pending UFA. I know an extension, but that's a lot for an unknown. You would have been better off signing JVR or Neal and not giving anything up...

I agree with the established NHL center to guide the prospects. Honestly that part kind of slipped my mind. I am hesitant to acquire an established center at the possibility of finishing higher in the standings. I don't think Bergevin will get anything close to what we consider fair value but I think the prospect system could use some offensively inclined wingers (which could be the 2019 draft focus)

I agree but at the same time the Habs want to play well, the fans want them to play well, and at the end of the day if Pacioretty is traded for a package which includes a center, the center can't make the team any better than Patchy has.

Clague is one of the CHL's best scoring defensemen, the Kings value him much more.

Think I’d take the Chicago trade. I say that because I don’t think even with Patches their making the playoffs and Anisomov will at least fill a top 6 C role until Poehling and Kotkaniemi are ready.

These extension deals happen so rarely, why are even discussed. Make an trade an upccoming UFA, but you should know how complicated extensions. Just not realistic to think Habs are going to max return for Max

I think you need to lower your expectations quite a bit, some of them are closer but some of them there is no way the Canadians get that much

Evander Kane has played on some bad teams. And the last 2 seasons, he pretty much had 30 goals (28 and 29 respectively). Plus he's younger. So no, it's a good a comparable (although I think Spezza is a alot better comparable)

Goodluck with what you're asking for lol. May have been able to get that 2-3 years ago. Not now

They are pretty good comparisons (kane and patch) kane has age but a documented horrible attitude, if you haven't seen the Canadians play patch has been on a horrible team for a while as well with o center support

You can have a 1st round pick and maybe a c level prospect because that is all he is worth at this point with MB devaluing him so much.

Maybe swap Anisimov for Victor Ejdsell in the Chicago trade and remove Bajkov and add the Habs 2020 3rd in the Florida one.
