Trouba isn't going to knowingly leave a potential cup team in Winnipeg,, For a NYR that's admittedly heading towards a rebuild here. Get real he wants to win and that's not happening with the NYR.

I'm sure his first priority will be to make sure he gets what he deserves, it's not just as simple as wanting to win otherwise every star player would take significant pay cuts. For that reason I think it's in the realm of possibility that he prices himself out especially considering Winnipeg has Wheeler and Laine extensions coming up the following year, both of which will be sizeable.

That's understandable, But no way i see Trouba with the NYR. He either goes home to Detroit or possibly here in Florida with either Tampa or Florida. Those are the only 3 teams i see him with.

I can see the Rangers being interested in Trouba, but I don't see Skjei being the piece they trade. Rangers are thin down the left side of D and overstocked on the right. While acquiring Trouba would be an upgrade over Skjei, the Rangers would still need more guys on the left, thus forcing some of those RD to play on their off side. Not ideal.

I'm not familiar enough with Winnipeg's needs to know what they'd be trying to pry out of the Rangers, but I could see the Rangers parting with forwards to acquire Trouba. Over on fan boards, I've heard speculation that Zuc, Hayes, Spooner, and Vesey are available. Losing Hayes or Zuc would be a mistake IMO.

I'd read that Trouba was looking for playing time last summer and this season Winnipeg gave it to him. While playing in NYC has its allure, playing for a team that's a contender would be more desirable, no? Rangers will be a playoff bubble team this year. Still a couple of seasons away from being a Cup contender.
