Solid at the top, but the D looks suspect and not much depth.

Blake Hillman is going to breakout this year and still have Jokiharju on the right who can slip in. Hawks could also keep Murphy and trade Rutta for a 3rd.

I don't think you can expect anything out of Hillman this year...or maybe at all...but he definitely needs seasoning in the AHL if he's going to be a piece in the future

Also Hawks won't trade Kahun, they just signed him. Thats a big no no

Hillman is dynamic. The games he played he looked good, better then Forsling. He's a good 7th guy, as I don't think Jokiharju will be ready this year.

Kahun can get traded. Signing a guy and trading him right away is not that uncommon.

Yes it is uncommon to sign and trade a player when they haven't played one game for you.

Hillman is far from dynamic....he'll be lucky to play 20 games in the NHL next year

I don't agree. I actually like what I've seen both in the 4 games he played and at Denver. Besides Jokiharju and Mitchell, I think he's better then Forsling and Chad Krys

While I agree with you that Hillman does have the promise of dynamic player, wouldn't it better serve him to spend a year (or less, depending on injuries) to transition to the big game? Coming from Denver right to the NHL seems like a bit of a stretch. I would love it if you were right and he snags a spot out of camp though!

Also, I know I've said this on every post where someone traded him, but can we please not trade Connor Murphy? I know there is more there, and I think he is going to have a much improved season this year.

That Carolina trade is lacking to say the least. I'm not sure about how good Kahun is but I just don't see a way in which Carolina takes that deal

I don’t see how a top line winger after his worst year, an unproven khl rookie, a defensive prospect that still hasn’t proven himself after 3 years, and a 2nd rounder gets you a pretty consistent top line winger AND a high level top 4 two way defensemen that puts up a good amount of points.

And I don’t really see how an arguably overpaid 3rd line center or at best a underwhelming/-producing 2nd line center and a back up goalie that can’t quiet hold a starting gig in the nhl, and another 2nd get you a on average 30+ goal scorer a season over the course of his entire career.

MTL isn’t gunna say “oh you don’t plan on keeping him long term?! That’s cool. I’ll just take less than what he’s easily worth for him then. No worries”

Can CHI fans please stop trying to send MTL Anisimov in a Patches trade. Habs have no interest in him.

Maybe theirs a deal to be had with CHI, and without asking for the obvious guys (Shmaltz, DeBrincat, Boqvist) the deal has to start with a 1st + a solid prospect. Maybe both sides have some tinkering to do. but stop trying to give average assets for a 1st line LW (rental or not). not gonna happen.

How about:

To CHI -> Patches (50% salary retained) + McCarron + Froese
To MTL -> 2019 1st (top 15 protected) + one of Beaudin or Jokiharju (you can pick) + one of Hayden or Sikura (again, take your pick)

MTL gets their pick and prospects. CHI get their 1st line 2way LW to play with Toews or Kane, and two bottom 6 players who can play C or RW.

murphy is better than people give him credit for. no point to trade him other than cap space.

Did you just give me 1 star because you think Murphy is worth more then a 2nd round pick? I did trade him for cap space and got a 2nd rounder back because that is what he's worth.

Stephen Johns comes to mind in an idiotic trade from 2015!
