Looking at it I may have given up a bit much to Philli. Could do without one of the draft picks going back their way. I'm from Hamilton so I have seen quiet a bit of Riley Stillman, he was Hamiltons best defenceman in the playoffs and down the stretch in the regular season. He has one of the hardest and accurate shots in the league, especially for a defenceman. Strome has work to do on his skating and playing just down the road in Hamilton he can work with Barb Underhill on a regular basis, other then his skating he is a fantastic player. Kills penalties, net front presences on the Power Play, not one to shy away from playing a physical game. Morgan Frost I have only seen a handful of times when Soo came into Hamilton. In the playoffs in my eyes he was SSM best centerman, fast puck moving center that has a quick and accurate release. Works on the PP and the PK. The one thing I noticed with Frost that was a concern with me is he looked out of place from time to time and was unsure of what to do position wise when under pressure. Leivo to EDM felt like the right thing to do with Leivo, send him somewhere so he can actually play instead of having a reserved sign in the sky-box. Sending Sparks to Washington makes sense to me. Winning goaltender in the AHL go to the winning team in the NHL. Washington just have their backup to COL so it seems like a good fit. Another team I can see Sparks going to is Minnesota or even Montreal.

I agree with Leivo for a 3rd, but Sparks for a 3rd is a little light. I am not sure Toronto would want to trade away their top minor league goaltender. I don’t think Toronto trades a 4th and a 7th for a LD that was drafted in the 4th round and RD is their weakness right now. Having said that, I haven’t seen him play, so I will have to somewhat cede that he has that value. Take away the 3rd pick in the Strome/Frost deal and it looks okay.

Solid deals, you have good reasoning for the moves you made. A couple things though, I think it is a bit too much money for Nylander, but it might take that to lock him up for that long. The Leafs would be better off with a shorter deal, say four years, with a smaller cap hit. Also, the Leafs are already thin on defense, and while trading Gardiner could be an option, we dont exactly have a deep blue line to take a blow like that. I think if the leafs were to trade him, they would either acquire a different top 4 D from somewhere else, or as part of the return (ie. Gardiner for Myers). I think Dermott is ready for top 4 time as well, but I would rather reduce Hainsey's minutes, bump up Zaitsev, then have Gardiner play on the right with Dermott. That's if they decide to have Dermott in the top 4, but I see him being on the 3rd pair. The trade you have with PHI may be a bit of an overpayment, but not by a lot. Other than that, it looks good.
