I'm inclined to agree, but I feel like if they got a lot more a deal would be done at this point

I think they are playing on the edge of seeing if they will be in the hunt and what type of year Faulk has early. If he puts up numbers and the Canes are out of a race his value could go up for prospects

Yeah but he doesn't slot in over Pesce, and for sure not Hamilton, like he'll play 3rd line minutes with pp time, I wouldn't make that bet if I was a Cane

You're wrong because Kovalchuk will be on the 1st or 2nd line and Fantenberg won't be paired with Doughty he might not even be in the NHL lol

If Nyquist is unextended and still on the Red Wings by the trade deadline, Detroit wouldn't need to retain salary, as his cap-hit will be prorated and will affect the Kings cap very little.

Additionally, if Nyquist is unextended by the trade deadline, that is a huge overpayment for a player that will be a UFA in a couple months. JAD by himself would likely get the job done.

This line combination was more in order to run three scoring lines. I think Fantenberg-Doughty is a good combination, especially if the 2nd pair can be Muzzin-Faulk. Would you rather have Phaneuf on the 1st pair?

Fantenberg isn't a shutdown guy. You pair a D man like Doughty with a shut down guy. Phaneuf will be paired with LaDue. MacDermid would be a better pair for Doughty especially because Mac played with Dewy a lot last season

If you say so. I remember Klingbergs "sophmore slump" which was in lot due to not playing with Goligoski anymore - which in turn made for harder zone exits. Maybe you wan't the 2nd pair in the offensive zone, and that makes it fair, but I don't think it's that binary either
