AAV seems high for what he's done over the course of his career, but he'll likely get pushed up in the lineup and become Anaheim's 2C if Kesler's injury woes continue and if he continues to suck.

With the cap going up and him being a second center with the Kesler injuries. He has the potential of 50-60 points. Prime years as well. Seems fair to me.

Doesn't take effect until after this season. This is a good contract on a team with a couple of bad ones though.

He’s making only $150,000 less a year than Mark Scheifele who is a million times better than Henrique lmao!!!!

Man, you're forgeting about the cap is going up (4.5M just in this season). So your comparison is totally unfair. Henrique will be the future Ducks 2nd Center. Besides, Adam Henrique is a very good two-way forward who can help his team both in PP and PK. That's why the contract is fair.

I started out thinking this was a bit of an overpay, but I think it has more to do with this level of player costing this type of price, and just not being used to anyone who isn't more of star player commanding near $6M a year. He has been a consistent 20+ goal scorer and plays center or wing, in a 2-way capacity. I think the price is fair, and the term is reasonable. 2nd line talents are hard to peg down in terms of value. Some of the worst contracts in the league have been to 2nd line players on their 3rd contract. He compares favorably to guys like Hodgson, Filpula, Dubinsky, Neilsen, Bolland, Weiss, Sutter, Anisimov, and Backes. Pavelski and Backlund are the only comparables that really leap out as clearly better players, but I would consider both of those deals a bit of a steal. If my choice was to spend $5.85M on Henrique or $5M on Bozak, I take Henrique all day.

But is that on Scheifele or Henrique? Henrique got a good deal IMO. He's a 40-50 point guy, and no one would be complaining about this if he was definitely your 2C (meaning no Kesler on the books).

Scheifele, on the other hand, got a bad deal because he signed after a 60 point season, and then got a lot better in terms of stats. Had he done a bridge deal, he would be looking for a new deal this summer, and would likely get over $8.00 mil.

If Scheifele was UFA this summer he'd be getting 8 years for a minimum of $8 million. As for Henrique, he's a solid #2 Center in a probable playoff team. Look at what Kyle Turis signed for w/ NSH. He got $6 million for 6 years. Henrique is better offensively and plays in all situations. When you look at this contract in the greater context of the league it makes sense. Other comparable contracts include Tyler Johnson at $5 million AAV, Travis Zajac at $5.75 AAV, and Alexander Wennberg at $4.9 million AAV. I'd take Henrique all day long.

Bad comparison. Scheifele is on an absolute sweetheart of a deal. He's worth much closer to $10 million than $6 million.
