Genius, insane or just dumb?

Description
Crazy good defence in cap hell but why not go all in?

I might be a bit off on a couple of figures but give or take on a few contacts and it could be done. Also like Florida, Texas and Nevada, Tennessee has no state income tax so they can get away with paying slightly below most teams.

There are ways to get around that with entry level players and you can only dress 20 players per game. Chicago in the peak of their cap crunch often times had less than 23 players on their roster to stay cap complacent. realistically there is no way this team misses the playoffs and once they make it there the cap regulations loosen significantly.

Yeah the only way you are prying Nylander away is by moving a right shot top 4 D man who is ready and at the top of his game right now. So something where Nylander and Ellis swap teams may work but even then it is a long shot.

Honestly I thought what I had in for Nylander was already a huge overpayment. Dante Fabbro is a 2016 first round pick, right shot D-man who's playing for Boston University and was one of Canada's top player's at the WJC. By the time this deal happens Fabbro will likely be ready to be a top 4 right shot d-man and then if you take into consideration also having Jarnkrok, two firsts, two seconds and additional cap space I think the deal is more than fair for only Nylander

Yes the return you sent is fair. But that's not what I was getting at. Leafs are really in win mode and Fabbro is still growing into his Top 4 role and honestly could still bust. Leafs are looking for a veteran presence in their top 4. So even though it's a fair return doesn't mean it's the right return for the team. So if the Leafs are moving Nylander it's for a legit established D man. But I honestly doubt he's moving.

Can't say they aren't a better team through all of this though
