Helping TB

Created by: jjb96
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 14, 2018
Published: Jul. 16, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade with TB is part of a 3-way to help TB clear cap space for Karlsson. Blackhawks get Stralman to take on Callahan's contract, so TB clears over $9 million in cap space.
Blackhawks get top 4 RHD and top 6 LW for 1 year, so no long-term commitment if they are still bad. Next summer, Hawks can buy out Callahan's contract and save around $3 million in cap space (but pay around 1-1.5 million the next year, not too bad).

I don’t like having Callahan for two years. We will gladly take Strålman off their hands tho.

Callahan next season will be tough. But it's an interesting idea.

How about you stop browsing capfriendly and trade for pacioretty or skinner already.

Not a bad idea... The Hawks could do it BUT it would cost the Hawks 2.6 & 1.5 million to buy Callahan out.... Is it worth it?

I'd insist they add Taylor Raddysh and Cal Foote coming back.....

To Hawks: Callahan, Strålman, Foote & Raddysh

To Tampa Bay: Forsling, Fortin, Forsberg, Sikura & 2nd round pick

It would be interesting to see what Raddysh & DeBrincat can do at the NHL level.... They were pretty good in Erie. Obviously the NHL is a totally different situation and rarely do tandems that worked in juniors work as well in the NHL...

Value is fair but I don't think we would give up Vinny + Oesterle + 2019 3rd to clear cap space if all we were gonna do with the new found cap space is take on more bad contracts.

Tampa won't give Foote AND Raddysh just to clear cap space. And if they give both those guys they don't have much left to entice Ottowa With other than Sergachev. Tampa is in win now mode they can't trade roo many roster players for Karlson.

Yea, I agree.....

That's why I would want Raddysh & Foote in the deal for Forsling, Fortin, Forsberg, Sikura & 2nd round pick....

Of course it will never happen, just saying.. lol

How about ...

To Chicago: Bobby Ryan @33% ($4.857), Callahan, Strålman, Raddysh
To Tampa Bay: Karlsson, Fortin & Forsling
To Ottawa: Foote, Sergachev, Anisimov & 1st round pick (TB)

Tampa may need more back but the Hawks take both cap dumps from both teams..

I would do that from the Hawks persepctive..

Saad-Toews-DeBrincat
Ryan-Schmatlz-Kane
Kuniz- Sikura-Callahan
Hayden-Kruger-Kampf

Seems like an interesting top 6 to me.....

Hawks end up solving their #2 left wing and top 4 defense issue...

I like the trades value wise but i don't think we would trade away Vinny+Oesterle+2019 3rd to dump Hossa's cap just so we can go straight back and take 2 bad contracts from other teams.

I agree with that.... But at the same time that lineup would be pretty good..

The Hawks also have to at least get Schmaltz & DeBrincat bridge deals, and that's going to cost 3.5-4 million each, perhaps more.
