BIG UFA signing 19-20 / Moving on without Wheeler, GASP!

Created by: Ducky10
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 6, 2018
Published: Jul. 17, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm sure leaving Dallas and its favorable tax climate would be difficult for Seguin especially to come to Winnipeg but ... This scenario has the majority of the major assets locked up long term. Kyle Connor will need a new deal after this season and Roslovic and Niku as pending RFA's will likely be bridged. Little to Seattle and a cap increase should free up enough cap space to get all that done! Another busy off season for Chevy!

Kapanen acquired in a deal during prior off season with a package of Myers and some picks on both sides.

Arizona is at max contracts and Ottawa isn't spending money on people if they don't have too. That being said this is a very strong team. I don't know how much truth there is to this but Dallas is a big hub for pro players in the off-season and Seguin is a very social guy. I would be shocked if he left Dallas for anyone, and Winnipeg? I don't know man, that's tough. Just my two cents.

Yep I get that with Dallas but fun to imagine!
The cap dumps and the teams they go to are kind of irrelevant. There is no return that impacts this roster in any way other than moving out the salaries.
I chose Ottawa for Kulikov becuase they will lose Karlsson and need NHL players on D plus the addition of a young team controlled player with some upside just for taking him would be reward enough. And that Chayka guy in Arizona is a big analytics guy so will undoubtedly love Perrault! He would be a good veteran presence for that young team. But again, irrelevant.

Perhaps, but that cap crunch is coming and they need a RHD badly! Gotta give something decent to get something decent.
And are you that insecure about Matthews being better than Laine you have to use it as your username! haha. We'll see

For sure, I guess that side of it is just legalistic.
