Mcelhinney is not a starter, Pickard might be but is only signed for one year and won't resign. Sparks is better than both. Hyman's year last year was an outlier and there are other players who can replace him. Carrick will never play under babcock. Hainsey is an awful defenceman.

8MIL FOR NASH!?

It's one year and the team can afford it, why not? Makes the team better and entices him further to stay in the NHL nad come to his hometown.

Hyman is a 2nd liner, Carricks a potential top 4 defense. McElhinney is a very serviceable backup and Babcock would kill Dubas if he traded Hainsey. An only for a second? Nash is not worth million. And Nylander is worth at least 6 million dollars. Plus the Leafs have better centres in the system than Nick Shore.
