Anyone remember the hype around this kid? This is why I never get excited about signing those older college FA's. 3rd liner at best.

Yeah, I remember Nashville reportedly guaranteed him a spot in the top six if he signed with them. Dodged a bullet there.

Agreed, for a two-year contract I figured he deserves about 1.7 million a year at the absolute most

Agreed, he’s a good fourth liner or a semi-decent third liner at best

for sure. few of these four college players really amount to anything special. I really have doubt abut the 35 year old Kovalchuk being that special for the Kings for the next three years. fans look at stats and get all google eyed, but the nhl is different than any other league.

Not terrible, though I agree he's a bottom 6 forward. In his two seasons, he's managed 27 & 28 points, so this payday is in line with his production. Rangers have ton of cap space and it's only two years. So long as there's no NTC, he can always be packaged up in a trade. He's a UFA when it's done. Rangers can then move on, and prospects can take his place. I'll take Vesey in the lineup any day over McLeod!

As a Buffalo fan I still have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about Vesey. In retrospect, glad NYR is overpaying him not us.

This contract won't hurt us now, this is Vesey's chance to prove he'll actually be anything more than a bottom 6 forward.
