Signing J.T. Miller and then trading him right away sends a bad message to other players. They won’t want to sign with you after that because they’ll have to be worried about being traded. Also, NYR is rebuilding and wouldn’t give u two picks or want Tyler Johnson. Instead, you could give them a good prospect along with Callahan

Would be fun having Panarin and Karlsson (or one of them), but it kills TB's really great depth, which is an advantage they've had over a lot of teams. Johnson has NTC and I don't see him waiving it, especially for NYR. Miller is still young and could become a really big producer w/ Kucherov and Stamkos. Panarin-Stamkos-Kucherov would be amazingly good though. In this scenario, TB would let Gourde walk for free, which is something they probably won't do. He's also a very important player to the team.

Another issue is the cap. I'm not going to go far into it, but it wouldn't work out unless Palat, Sergachev or Vasy is traded, none of which I would see happening. Although TB would have a great first line and a great Top 4 core of defenseman, I'd rather have the great depth that TB will have for years to come. Although adding one of the two is still possible, it would still cause major changes.

What are you going to do in 2020-21? 13 players to sign and about $20M cap space isn't a recipe for continuity. This team would be a 1-hit wonder at best.
