Decent trade but now Tampa has 9 NHL ready defencemen. You should trades some to make this worth while. Keep Faulk but try trading a defenceman for someone who could replace johnson.

I may be in the minority but I think our d will be fine. Mcdonah will have a full year with us. Serg in his second year, has stated he likes the right side and Cooper said he played his best during the playoffs on the right side. Serg is not going to be a third pairing for long so put him on the right second pairing. Again probably in the minority but I'd like to see Koekkoek given a fair shot w Girardi. Serg is mobile and shown in limited role been able to move the puck and score. Vassy has a year experience so will handle the workload better. A new defensive coach will bring fresh ideas as well. I don't see SY doing much but possibly adding some bulk at the forward position.

I would be very happy if the Faulk trade happened. TB getting a good RHD and also gets rid of Johnson's $5m AAV that could become an issue in the future. But Johnson does have a NTC, but if he would waive it (I don't think he will), this would be a good trade.

The RW position is a little slim though, I don't see Raddysh jumping to the NHL this year, and definitely not to the second line. Although easy solution would just be to keep Gourde at RW.

But what needs work is the defensive core. I would trade away Coburn to shed salary, and Dotchin for a pick or a low cost depth forward. I'd like to see Koekkoek given more playing time and a chance at a 3rd pairing spot, probably w/ Girardi, but maybe Stralman instead because Girardi would more than likely become 7th defenseman. Sergachev could move to 2nd pairing w/ McDonagh or even 1st w/ Hedman (Sergachev on the right side).
