Yup, this was just a bs hypothetical to build up the back end. Would have moved out Kuch as well for Doughty if he would have been a FA. This will never happen as Yzerman (as much as he is beloved) would be roasted by the fans for this. I adjusted a little bit. How would this work out for your liking?

The Rangers say no for sure. We don't need a 2C; we have Mika, Hayes (assuming he re-signs, which right now seems like the most likely outcome), Chytil, Andersson, and Howden, plus Namestnikov and Spooner as depth at C. Even without Hayes, we don't need Tyler Johnson because we have Chytil and Andersson, who the organization wants to see get meaningful NHL minutes. Johnson's contract is bad for us as well; under contract till 32 or 33, for at best .5m less than Hayes, who is younger, and in my opinion pretty comparable on the ice. Trading for him runs counter to our current trajectory. And Libor Hajek was THE PIECE that Gorts wanted out of the McDonagh trade, it was the one piece he literally would not do the deal without. We're not giving him back to you.
