LMFAO, so you will pay a bottom 6 guy nearly $3 mil per but won't lock down your best D man and want to pay him $4 mil.

Teams lowballing arbitration numbers is standard practice. So is players/agents overvaluing what they're looking for. It's a standard tactic. The Jets know $4million isn't enough for 1-2 bridge for a RHD like Trouba and Trouba's camp know that for a low term contract they won't get $7 million. Arbitration will get somewhere in between.

For Lowry, slightly more than I thought but 3 years eats one of his UFA years I believe. Good contract, he's a good and versatile bottom 6 player.

Obviously they are lowballing Trouba because thats standard practice but do you really want to insult him and piss him off more? He already gave you 2 years of a bargain, it is time to pay the man. $6.25 is where it should be.

As for Lowry, if he had another year of RFA status after this year then I would have let the arbiter give him a 1 year deal as a prove you can do it again year. He likely would be closer to the $2 mil range.

Lowry is more to the Jets than a bottom 6 guy. He is also a guy that can play higher up if needed. As for Trouba, its only because of salary arbitration that they offered him 4M. They will prob settle for 5.5 if they don't sign a long term contract today.

6.25 is for a long term contract. Not a one year. Thats why its low...That is also the nature of this business....Welcome to Salary arbitration

Lowry isn't that good! He is probably slightly better than Raffl.

Ya and if that happens Trouba likely requests a trade.

He only takes on the top line of the other team for a reason. Does Raffl do that? Nope...Sean does.

Raffl gets top line minutes multiple times throughout most years.

I had Lowry pegged at three years for 2.5 million a year but still this is a decent amount for him

Love it. Just under 3mill for a player who generates a better relative differential of high danger chances than anyone else in the league, and contributes offense at the pace of a 2C relative to ice time. As long as he plays more than 60 games a year this is a perfect signing.

Overpaid a bit for bottom 6 forward, especially since Brian Little or Mathieu Perrault is over paid a little too.

one look at komarov new contract 3m X 4 yrs, and maybe this is new going rate for 3/4 line left wingers.

Funny how people here think bottom 6 players should get this and that and the Lowry contract is too much an so on. Fact is that it's in line with other contracts given in similar conditions. GM's don't look at player's supposed line, they look at their overall contribution and base the player's value on that.

The difference is that Adam Lowry is a better player than Leo Komarov. Lowry's underlying stats are good and are undervalued.

Lowry is one of the best bottom six players in the league and is Winnipeg's primary shutdown center. I like this contract. Just look at his underlying numbers from last season with primarily defensive zone starts, albeit in only 45 games played. Still impressive, nonetheless.

The REAL difference is that Lowry is an RFA and Komarov was a UFA.

And everyone knows that Komy's contract is brutal....even Lamourello....Lou also knows the NYI won't have cap trouble during Komy's tenure....so his cap hit is irrelevant.

It's a two way street. Insulting in over valuing and asking for more then what you are actually worth is just as insulting!
