Tearing It Down

Created by: TheRage
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 20, 2018
Published: Jul. 20, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bergiven to be fired immediately, and the rebuild to start. What I propose is an ACTUAL plan, where the team is good enough to compete, but not win, shelter some young prospects this year, and earn the right to pick 1st overall.

Wouldn't it be ironic if MTL drafted another 30 goal/season winger with the pick they got from SJ for Patches who ended up being a disgruntled captain 10 years down the road?

Well Mr. planner first you need to fine a french Canadien GM who has experience at the NHL level.. and who is available.... which is probably non-existent.. and then you can help molson pay the 20 million(or some such number) that is owed to Bergevin.... Gm make what star players make now so Bergevin is going nowhere this year and if he does a good job with the re-build he is going no where next year either...... go back and look at the regular seasons montreal had two and three years ago when we were supposed to be re-building and then remember why Bergevin got his extension in the first place.... you have opinions but you don't has a feasible replacement who would definitely be better to offset the millions Molson will have to pay Bergevin... reality is not the same as passionate fan talk.

thank you.. it is so easy to criticize but hard to do better... Bergevin draft record is actually quite good and i believe if we keep stock piling draft picks we will be good very soon but not next year..

If he has done a great job of drafing, why does the farm team struggle so much, and where are the homegrown impactful players outside of the 1st round? Mete could be one...

I'mean not bilingual, but as a sports fan, I would rather have competency in a different language than ineptitude in my own tongue.

The GM is always francophone in montreal it is the nature of the beast and that won't change no matter how we might disagree with it.

It is not the farm that stuggles but the way we run our AHL club..... Hudon and Schrebrek and Mete and Juulson are all good NHLErs and Lehtenon and De la rose are as well... what we don't have is stars because we did too well in the standings and got very low picks in 3 of Bergevin years (25, 25, 26) but we got Drouin for Sergechev so that is one star but we need more... I like Kotkiniemi and the picks from this year so with patience we will be much better in 2019... just need to draft well again and get a high pick
