So you think Karlsson is going to play for OTT this year, a key year in his prime, and wait to join a club next year via UFA? And OTT is just going to let him walk for nothing?

And then you think Marleau is going to wave his No-Move to join a tire fire?

If things don't work out in ottawa of course he leaves. And read the description, toronto ottawa nad marleau agree to send marleau back at the deadline and if marleau is hesitant he can be threatened to be a consistent healthy scrathc or send him to robidas island.

There is no precedent for a “pre-agreed” trade back to a team at the deadline. Marleau earned the no-move language and wanted it in his contract for a reason. There might be explicit rules in the CBA that negate this type of thinking anyways.

    It’s just plain not happening.

There is nothing in the CBA that can stop a verbal agreement from someone reacquiring a player. The leafs can even screw him over like they did with michalek by telling Ottawa to buy him out, then Ottawa gets his full cap while only paying 2/3rd of 1.25 mil
