Danger will bridging is the players are just two years from being UFAs. So it really fantasy that a player is going to sign short term and want. to sign an eight year contract. Just look how the Trouba scenario is being played out.
And really how does bridging and then signing long term really help the cap. It doesn't. Other players who are expected to be good are expecting raises too. Fact is IF the Leafs (or any team) has too many good players worth of their contracts,,,some high priced player will have to traded for inexpensive futures.
